From canvas, paper, fabric to plexiglas, Didier Mencoboni has wide range of medium, but all his works are the result of experiment in consistent context. On the contrary to past artists who radically showed only one form, he developed his style complementing formative language. In the early 90’s, he draw the series “…Etc..” that he transformed various types and themes to his own style. Until now, he has made more than 2,000 pieces of works and they are all numbered.
Mencoboni’s abstract paintings provoke the interaction between geometrical and systematic forms, at the same time the contradiction; natural and artificial, irrational and rational, continuous and discontinuous. Another feature of his works is the “Joy of beauty” which is rare characteristic in the modern art world. The sublime from the inside and visual beauty from the outside, each level gives different impression. Moreover, his art comes from the flow of ideas. Through self-created divisions and variations, he guided the viewers to a path of abstraction that lies in complete freedom and joy.

크고 작은 오브제, 캔버스, 종이, 직물, 그리고 플렉시 글라스에 이르기까지 다양한 재료를 아우르는 디디에 망코보니의 작업은 겉보기에는 다양해 보이지만 모두 일관된 맥락의 실험의 결과물이라는 공통점이 있다. 그의 조형실험은 변화되는 규칙을 지니며 발전한다. 이전 추상미술의 선배들이 급진적으로 오직 하나의 형식을 보여주었던 것과는 달리, 그는 끊임없이 그 스스로의 조형언어를 보완해 나가며 작품 형식을 개발해 나간다. 90년대 초기부터 제작하기 시작한 “…Etc..”연작은 다양한 형식과 주제를 그의 언어로 풀어낸 작품들이다. 현재 작품 개수가 2000점이 넘고 모두 완성이 된 후 번호가 매겨져 있다.
망코보니의 추상회화는 기하학적이고 유기적인 모양들의 상호작용을 불러일으키는 동시에 모순적이다. 생명성이 느껴지는가 하면 인공적인 느낌이 들기도 하며, 비이성적인 동시에 이성적이며, 연속적인 동시에 불연속적이다. 그의 작품의 또다른 특징은, 현대미술에서 좀처럼 찾기 힘든 요소인 ‘즐거움’을 찾을 수 있다는 점이다. 매우 다양한 층위의 아름다움이 존재한다. 표면에서부터 깊은 숭고미 마저 느낄 수 있다. 또한 그의 예술은 아이디어의 흐름에서 온다. 변화와 파열, 스스로가 만든 분열과 변주를 통해  관람자들을 완전한 자유와 즐거움에 놓여있는 추상의 길로 안내한다.
